About the system
What is the tie rod system?
The tie rod system (Tie Bar System) is a tying and bracing system used in concrete wall formwork to keep the form in place during pouring and stop it spreading under concrete pressure.
The tie rod passes between the two faces of the form and is tightened from outside with a wing nut against a waler plate, which spreads the pressure across the form.
